The Dublin Painting And Sketching Club's 132nd Annual Exhibition
The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club was formed in October 1874. Its aims were 'to bring together artists, amateurs and others interested in art and the holding of public exhibitions.' In the 21st century these aims remain in place. The founders, a distinguished group, included Dr. William Stokes, Fellow of the Royal Society and President of the Royal Irish Academy, Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, Dr. John Todhunter, a successful playwright and John Woodhouse, an engraver and maker of wax models. Alfred Grey, RHA, was the first President of the Club and Alexander Williams, RHA, the first Secretary. The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club hold their 132nd Annual Exhibition at Dun Laoghaire's County Hall from Monday April 12th to Sunday April 25th, presenting 250 works by their eighty members, including Maureen Phelan, Margaret Kent, Cabrini Lynch and Tom Scott.

A New Year! - Welcome to 2010
It's the start of a brand new year and new as yet unformed plans! We are back to the studio in early January to continue our art practice and ongoing study of life drawing and the human form. The 'Naked Ambition' exhibition went very well and has given us a tast for more, and our new website is settling in nicely. So far no concrete dates for upcoming exhibitions - but watch this space!!
Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!

Naked Ambition Exhibition at the No Grants Gallery
'NAKED AMBITION'
'Naked Ambition' is the first exhibition of the newly formed ThreeRockArt group.
'This exhibition is a celebration of the human form. It demonstrates the exuberance of the quick sketch and the beauty of the naked body. Figure drawing is the traditional cornerstone of art training, as it offers every challenge - line, tone, perspective, composition, form, structure, foreshortening and so on. Stripped of the cultural constraints of clothing, the nude figure can express every aspect of humanity'
The exhibition is open to the public from Thursday 27th November to Wednesday 9th of December at the Temple Bar Cultural Trust No Grants Gallery 12 East Essex St Temple Bar.
